Nyayo Tea Zones Corporation (PLC) is a Government Owned Enterprise under The National Treasury as now established through the GOE Act – No. 25 of 2025. Previously, the Corporation existed as Nyayo Tea Zones Development Corporation, established under the Legal Gazette Notice No. 30 of 2002 under the Ministry of Agriculture. The Corporation is mandated to create protective buffer zones of tea, assorted tree species and other suitable crops for conservation and protection of gazetted forests and other fragile ecosystems in Kenya and add value to the buffer zones value chains through processing, branding and selling of tea and other conservation products - thereby earning revenue for the Government of Kenya. The buffer zones also help delineate the forests and other fragile ecosystems’ boundaries and provide livelihood opportunities to the surrounding communities.

Location of Zones
The Corporation operates in 19 zones across the country which have formed protective buffer belts for nine (9) critical water tower forest blocks.
Environmental Conservation
The Corporation has established 5,235 hectares of forest cover comprising of assorted indigenous tree species to conserve the ecologically fragile areas around the gazetted forests.
Value Addition
The Corporation has ventured into value addition including tea processing, blending, packaging and branding of its products for sale locally and overseas.
